Have you ever wondered how to find YOUR healthy lifestyle? Who hasn’t? I was thinking about this topic today as I was working out. Today was just one of those days where I had no motivation to do anything, but yet had a whole list of things to do. We’ve all been there! Finally, around one o’clock I decided I had to get something done and decided to workout. I dreaded the thought of having to get up, make my way to the bedroom, put on my running gear, make my way to the bathroom, put my hair up, get Wrigley put in his cage, fix up the music on my phone, stretch, and finally, run. Then, I thought to myself, “why does it have to look like that?” It was right then that I rolled off my couch in my pajamas (yes, it’s one o’clock and I still have my pajamas on) and grabbed my dumbbells in the corner. I have to boast and let you all know that I completed a workout that day, in my pajamas, while watching food network. The point of this story is, not everyone’s healthy lifestyle is going to be the same and that’s okay! We are going to have days where we feel strong enough to run a couple miles and then we are going to have days where all we can do is some weight training while watching Bobby Flay make a crab cake. In this post, you’re going to find out tips to help you pick out your healthy lifestyle and feel good about it! Lets jump in!

1.) Find An Exercise That Fits You!
Lets be honest, none of us are going to want to complete a workout we hate doing. I don’t believe in any of that, “If it wasn’t painful or you didn’t hate it, than it wasn’t a workout,” junk. For instance, my favorite types of workouts are running, yoga, and HIIT. Are they difficult? You betcha! I enjoy doing them though and that’s what matters. So, you need to find the exercises that call to you and the best way of doing that is experience. Some of you may already know what you enjoy doing and that’s great! If you’re new to working out, then give a variety of exercises a try. Check out my Pinterest page for workouts to try or just simply search on Pinterest yourself. Find out what you enjoy and stick with it, because it’s so rewarding.
2.) Learn More About Eating Pattern
Learning more about yourself is the best way to start a healthy lifestyle. How do you expect to create a healthier lifestyle with no knowledge about the person you’re creating it for. A dietitian would never write up an eating plan for a patient without first doing an evaluation and that’s what you have to do. This helps you get ahead of bad habits and stop them before they happen. For instance, if you know you’re a person who starts craving sugar around 8 p.m. you can start to practice habits that will keep those cravings at bay such as, brushing your teeth right before 8 p.m., having a cup of tea ready to go so you can sip on that instead, or have a couple of pieces of dark chocolate ready to keep you tied over till bed time. Get a journal and track your normal habits for one month. Write down what foods you crave, what time you crave them, what time you eat, when you’re the most hungry, and etc. This is the best way to get to know your eating pattern and how to combat bad habits.
3.) What’s Your Mindset?
A healthy lifestyle doesn’t just mean eating Kale and running 5 miles everyday. It’s taking care of your body, mind, and soul. Right now you need to come to the realization of whether you’re a glass half full or a glass half empty person and then, become a glass half full person. Building a healthy lifestyle is almost impossible with a negative outlook on life. Find ways that can help you build a positive mindset. For me that is praying, journaling, reading, and meditating. I suggest checking out my New Year’s Resolution post to see exactly how I journal to help better my mind set. Book’s such as, You’re A Badass, Are We Happy Yet? and Mindfullness are a great read for when you want to learn more about gratitude and being in the present.
To recap, finding your healthy lifestyle is all about finding something that works for you. It may not look like Jillian Michael’s life, but that’s okay! Take the time to find out more about yourself and use that information to create your healthy lifestyle, because no one knows you like you.
